John Wick: Chapter 4
As this is my first review, I'd like to provide a quick introduction to the structure I'll be using. I won't start with an overly long introduction to the movie since I assume you already know what it's about. However, if you're unfamiliar with it, a quick Google search can help. Firstly, I'll rate the movie in seven categories out of ten. Next, I'll provide the reasons for those ratings along with my experience and thoughts about the movie. Then, I'll suggest whether or not you should watch it. Finally, I'll conclude by saying, " It all comes down to preference. Everyone has their own tastes, and this is according to mine," just so you don't track down and kill me.
So here are those ratings
- Plot: 1/10
- Acting: 7/10
- Direction: 6/10
- Cinematography: 9/10
- Soundtrack: 6/10
- Originality: 2/10
- Emotion: 1/10
Moving on to the acting, which I gave a 7/10. The reason for that is mainly due to the action scenes. They are pretty darn good - well choreographed and satisfying to watch. But here's the thing: there's just too much of it! Don't get me wrong, we all love seeing John Wick doing some kung fu and shooting people point-blank in the head. But this movie takes it to a whole new level. The fight scenes are so long and repetitive that I almost fell asleep at one point. And let's be real, the action is so over-the-top that it's not too far from an Indian movie. I mean, how is John Wick not dead with all of his bones broken before the end of the movie?
Now, let's talk about the cinematography, which I have to say is pretty darn good! The lighting, camera work, and locations where all the action takes place are really cinematic and eye-catching. I found myself enjoying the visual feast that was presented before me.
As for the soundtrack, it was okay. There were some electronic/metal tracks that helped to boost the action scenes, but nothing too memorable or standout.
Some diehard John Wick fans might argue that the emotional weight of the movie deserves more points. And to be fair, the ending did have a bit of emotional resonance that tugged at my heartstrings a little bit. That's why I gave it one point, but let's not get too carried away here. We're still talking about a movie where the main character kills people left and right without any remorse.
So, should you watch it? If you're in the mood for some mindless, over-the-top action, then sure, go for it. Just don't expect too much in terms of plot or character development.
In conclusion, for me, the movie felt like four overcooked dry chicken nuggets out of a six-piece box. It all comes down to preference though. Everyone has their own tastes, and this is according to mine. Overall, the action and cinematography were great, but the lack of a coherent plot and repetitive fight scenes left me feeling unsatisfied.
